New RIAI Universal Design Award – deadline extended to 13th May

The Centre for Excellence in Universal Design at the National Disability Authority is supporting a new Universal Design category in this year’s Irish Architecture Awards, run by the RIAI.

Entries for the RIAI Universal Design Award will be judged in relation to their achievement of excellence in architectural design that responds to the diverse needs of users, and enables people to access and use an environment with ease and comfort, to the greatest extent possible, regardless of their age, size, abilities or disabilities.

The deadline for submissions has been extended to 5pm on Monday the 13th May. Further information is available on the RIAI website.

The Centre for Excellence in Universal Design has invited Hubert Froyen, a Belgian architect with expertise in Universal Design to chair the jury for the award.Hubert Froyen is also giving a lecture on Universal Design on 21st May in the Pavilion, National Disability Authority, 25 Clyde Road, Dublin 4.
