Ensure that users can easily restart the equipment after a failure
Rationale
People with reduced mobility or other physical disabilities can find it difficult to reach the power socket on the wall in order to restart the equipment after a failure. This may be a problem if the equipment needs to be frequently restarted.
Directions and techniques
Provide an easy way of restarting the equipment
If users experience problems that can only be solved by restarting or rebooting, the restart procedure should be available through a button on the equipment fascia. Users should not be required to switch off the electricity supply at the wall socket, as this may be difficult for people with mobility problems or limited reach.
This can be achieved by a dedicated ‘reset’ button or by holding down a power button for an extended time.
