Overview
The Centre for Excellence in Universal Design (CEUD) at the National Disability Authority (NDA), in partnership with the University of Galway, will host the 8th International Universal Design Conference (UD26).
The conference will take place from 4–6 November 2026 at The Galmont Hotel in Galway City, Ireland.
Since 2012, the International Conference on Universal Design has served as a recognised platform for sharing research, innovative practice, and lived experience across disciplines.
UD26 will continue this tradition by creating a dynamic forum for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and networking among the global Universal Design community.

UD26 will:
Demonstrate how Universal Design acts as a key framework for a sustainable future
Provide a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration
Feature a diverse programme of plenary talks, workshops, parallel sessions, and networking opportunities
Highlight innovative practice, cutting-edge research, and lived experience
Whether you are new to Universal Design or deeply embedded in the field, UD26 offers an unmatched opportunity to connect and learn. In addition to the daily program there will also be an evening welcome drinks reception and an optional Gala Dinner.

Registration

With multiple ticket options and key deadlines approaching, early registration is strongly recommended. Not only will you benefit from reduced rates, but you’ll also help ensure access to preferred sessions and events.
Venue and travel
The conference will be held at The Galmont Hotel in Galway City, Ireland.
Travel: The hotel is situated approximately 280m from Galway City train station (Ceannt), which is roughly a 4-minute walk. Detailed travel information is available on our conference website.
