The NDA is pleased to announce the publication of Ireland’s Annual Monitoring Report 2025: EU Web Accessibility Directive. This is the fifth annual report by the National Disability Authority (NDA) relating to Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016 on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies. The Directive requires Member States to ensure that websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies are fully accessible to persons with disabilities.
The NDA is pleased to note improvements such as the increase in average Accessibility Score for websites that underwent simplified review from 46.1% in 2024 to 55.25% in 2025. In addition, the average number of errors per page decreased from 14 in 2024 to 11 in 2025. However, there has been an decrease in the percentage of pages with no errors from 58.9% in 2024 to 47.87% in 2025.
The NDA sees continued improvement in the performance of many public sector bodies while acknowledging that for many there are opportunities to resolve existing and prevent future issues on websites and mobile applications, and thereby to increase digital accessibility for all.
