The Centre for Excellence in Universal Design invites you to The Awards Ceremony of the 24 Hour Universal Design Challenge 2010 and seminar Technology in the City featuring renowned designer Clive Grinyer as keynote speaker

The Technology in the City Seminar with the 24 Hour Universal Design Challenge 2010Awards is a unique chance to see Universal Design, Inclusive Design and Design 4 All experts on advances in the field, the latest on teaching design and hot new designs for the city.

This lively seminar has top speakers from Europe that are in front of 1000s each year as leaders in the fields of e-accessibility, web design and design innovation. The morning Technology in the City Seminar speakers will frame the afternoon when 50 designers will join the day for the 24 Hour Universal Design Challenge 2010 awards programme.

The 24 Hour Universal Design Challenge 2010 involves 50 Irish design professionals competing on five teams to meet a design brief. The teams will have worked for 24 hours prior to the awards programme to develop a design concept. They will be very tired and really hyped to present their universal design concept to improve Technology in the City.

Universal Design is design that meets the needs of all people, regardless of age, size, ability or disability. It places the needs of user at the very centre of the design process. Direct user-designer interaction is therefore a key element of this challenge.

The teams will pitch their design concept to you – the audience – and a high profile panel of judges. A Judges' Choice Award (assessed using strICT criteria) and a People's Choice Award (selected by audience vote) will be presented.

A keynote speech will be given by the Challenge Patron – renowned designer Clive Grinyer,Director of IGSB CISCO
