PRESENTATION: "Demystifying WCAG 2.0 and Web Accessibility"

The Irish Internet Association's User Experience Working Group presented a half day seminar on the latest Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 from the W3C.

The Centre's Senior ICT Design Advisor, Dónal Rice, presented on "Legislation, Procurement & Digital Accessibility".

Dónal's presentation focused on the legislation that deals with web accessibility and the implications for the owners of private, business, egovernment and public sector websites. It examined current obligations and changes in light of the new version of the WCAG. It gave an overview of the likely impacts on web accessibility of current EU policy including the draft directive on equality in the provision of goods and services and other international policy and legislative measures such at the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
